What Is Hypnosis?

People often ask me “What is hypnosis? Does it really work? And most important of all,                          “Can it really help me?”                                                                                                                                       Funnily enough the perception that many people still have is of something very different to                      what hypnosis actually is.

Some people think hypnosis is making you walk like a chicken, pretending you’re Elvis, some other form of mind control or that you’re so deep in a trance that you don’t really know what’s happening.

The reality though is very different.

Hypnosis isn't sleeping or being unconscious.

It isn’t giving up control.

It isn’t being made to do something against your will.

You do in fact go into a natural state of hypnosis several times a day

The reality is when you’re staring blankly at the TV – and you suddenly think what am I watching? You’ve probably been in a hypnotic type trance for a little while

It also a bit like daydreaming and pretty much everyone does that!

Or when you drive your car somewhere you go regularly– and you arrive there and                                    can barely remember getting there – you’d been in a hypnotic trance – on autopilot

Or that state of focused attention when you are completely absorbed in your phone or device …

All of this is hypnosis… all of it is natural…and all of is under your control.

What happens is that your conscious mind, which is your analytical, thinking brain has relaxed and has moved slightly to one side. You are still aware of what is going on.

Meantime your subconscious mind, which is the part of you that operates below your normal level of waking consciousness and holds all of your patterns and programmes, is open to new ideas and positive suggestions that are right for you.
